# Delete your account

> The two ways to request deletion of your guito account and its data, whether or not you can sign in.

You can request deletion of your guito account at any time. There are two ways to do it, and the second one does not require you to be able to sign in.

## In the app

  <Step title="Open Settings -> Security">
    Click your avatar in the sidebar, select **Settings**, and scroll down to the **Delete account** section. On mobile the path is **Profile -> Settings -> Personal information -> Delete account**.

    Click **Delete account** and choose your reason (required). If your reason is privacy, a shortcut to export everything before deleting appears here.

  <Step title="Confirm your identity">
    Review what will be deleted and confirm with your current password or, if you sign in with Google, with a code emailed to you.

## By email

If you cannot sign in, write to **[support@guito.pt](mailto:support@guito.pt)** with the subject **"Cancelamento de Conta"**, from the account's email address. We confirm your identity before deleting anything.

For a formal erasure request under the GDPR, use the subject **"Direitos RGPD"**. We reply within one month, extendable to three months in complex cases.

## What happens next

<Warning>
  There is a 7-day grace period, during which you can cancel the deletion. After 7 days, the data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
</Warning>

If you want to keep a copy, request the export **before** deleting the account: once it is deleted, there is nothing left to export.

  If you subscribed to the Plus plan through the App Store, deleting your guito account does **not** cancel that subscription. Cancel it in your App Store subscription settings so the store stops charging the renewal.
