# Profile photo

> Choose, change or remove the photo shown in your guito menu.

Your profile photo appears in your guito menu, next to your name. If you signed in with Google and haven't chosen another, your Google account photo is used; with none, your initial appears. You can choose another photo in **Settings**, on the **General** tab, under **Profile photo** (click your avatar in the sidebar).

## Change the photo

**1. Open the profile photo**

Click your avatar in the sidebar, open **Settings** and, on the **General** tab, find **Profile photo**.

**2. Choose the photo**

Click **Add photo** (or **Change photo**, if you already have one) and choose a JPEG, PNG or HEIC image from your computer. The photo is cropped to a centred square.

The new photo appears in your menu straight away, on the website and in the mobile app.

## Remove the photo

Under **Profile photo**, click **Remove**. Your Google account photo comes back, if you signed in with Google, or your initial. **Remove** only appears for a photo you chose in guito: guito doesn't store your Google photo, which you change in your Google account.

## Your photo and your privacy

* Before it's saved, the photo is reduced to 512 by 512 pixels and loses the data the camera adds to it, including where it was taken.
* The photo only appears in your own account. It isn't shown to anyone else.
* When you remove the photo, or delete your account, the stored photo is deleted.

## FAQ

> **I signed in with Google. Will my photo go back to the Google one?**
>
> No. Once you choose a photo in guito, that's the one shown, even if you sign in with Google again. To go back to your Google photo, click **Remove**.

> **My image isn't accepted. Why?**
>
> guito accepts JPEG, PNG and HEIC photos. Some browsers can't open HEIC images (iPhone photos): if so, save the photo as JPEG and try again.
