# P2P lending

> Organize the money you hold on crowdlending platforms by platform and originator, and see the total on each one.

A **P2P / Crowdlending** investment is the balance you hold on a peer-to-peer lending platform. This page covers the fields specific to that kind and the view that groups your loans by platform. To record one for the first time, see [Investments valued by you](/en/features/manual-investments).

## Platform, originator and status

A P2P holding has fields of its own for the facts that don't fit inside the name.

* **Platform**: where you hold the money (Mintos, Debitum, VIAINVEST).
* **Originator**: the company that issued the loan and listed it on the platform (Evergreen Finance, Baltic Terra). Not the person who borrowed the money: one originator usually has several loans, each with its own maturity.
* **Status**: **Active**, **Completed**, **Late** or **In default**. It is only set in **Edit investment**.

The **Maturity date** lives here too, but it isn't P2P-only: it is shared with bonds and with loans to a third party.

## Seeing the total per platform

As soon as at least one investment has a platform filled in, the **Investments** list gains a new view. Under the **...** menu, in **View**, pick **By platform**: the loans are no longer mixed in by value and are grouped instead, each platform with its own total. P2P loans you haven't given a platform yet sit together under **No platform**. Everything else appears at the end under **Stocks, ETFs and others**, so nothing disappears from the list.

Late and defaulted loans carry a label next to the name, and the platform and the originator appear underneath the name, on the web and in the app. Active ones carry no label. The status also shows on the investment's own page whenever it isn't "Active".

## Estimated accrued interest

Fill in the **Indicated annual rate** and the investment's page shows **Estimated accrued interest**: what that rate implies has accrued since the investment date, as simple interest. If there's a maturity date, the count stops there.

<Warning>
  It is an estimate and nothing more. It does not count toward the investment's value, the gain or the IRR. A platform's advertised rate is not the return you will get: defaults and money sitting idle waiting to be deployed make the difference. The number that counts is still the balance you record.
</Warning>

On a **completed** or **defaulted** loan the estimate disappears.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Does estimated accrued interest count toward my net worth?">
    No. It's an informational number, computed from the rate you gave. Net worth and the gain always count the value you recorded, which is why it's worth updating when the platform statement arrives.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I have to record each loan separately?">
    No. The usual approach is to record the balance you hold on each platform as one investment, and update it when the statement arrives. Recording loan by loan only pays off if you want to track originators or maturities individually.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A loan went into default. What do I do?">
    Set the **Status** to **In default**, under **Edit investment**, and update the value to what you expect to recover. If nothing comes back, close the investment at **0**: the loss stays recorded in your history.
