AI assistants let you connect an external assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to guito and talk to it about your finances. Once connected, the assistant reaches the same accounts, investments, transactions and goals you see in the app, and can answer your questions, and even log entries, in plain language. Instead of opening the app, you ask the assistant you already use. The connection rests on an MCP connector, an open standard that lets AI assistants talk to external apps. There is nothing to install or configure inside guito: you connect by URL, pasting guito’s connection endpoint (https://guito.pt/api/mcp) into your assistant. That is why the same connector works with any compatible client, from Claude to ChatGPT, with no integration built for each one.
AI assistants are available on the Plus plan. It’s a way to use guito from the assistant you already use, without leaving it.

What the assistant can do

By default the assistant queries and analyzes your data: your net worth, holdings, balances, transactions, goals, credits and properties. That is what makes it useful to ask “What’s my portfolio worth?” or “Where do I spend the most?” without opening the app, because it is guito answering with your real numbers. The assistant can also write: log transactions, create manual accounts, goals, credits, properties and recurring items, or allocate to a goal. These actions change your data, so the assistant prepares the change and always asks for your confirmation before saving. Nothing is changed without your approval, and the assistant never moves money or runs payments or transfers. The security page explains these safeguards in detail.

Why it works with several assistants

Because the connector follows the MCP standard, any client that supports it can connect to guito, including Claude (and Claude Code) and ChatGPT, as well as editors like Cursor and VS Code. Connecting is a normal in-app action, not a developer task: most clients, including Claude and ChatGPT, support both reading and actions, with your per-action approval. The Gemini app does not yet allow custom MCP connectors. The per-client details, with the connection steps, are on the connect page.

Where the data comes from

The assistant connects to guito over OAuth: you sign in to guito and authorize access when the client asks for it. From then on, the assistant reaches only your own data and never your credentials. guito stays the single source of the data, synced and kept up to date as always; the assistant is just another window you read and organize it through.
