Once you connect your bank, guito keeps your accounts and transactions up to date on its own, through open banking. This guide shows you how to set up automatic sync, manage your connections, and renew an authorisation when it expires.
Access is always read-only. guito reads your balances and transactions, but can never move money or touch your funds. You authorize access in your own bank’s portal, with your usual credentials, which guito never sees or stores.

Set up automatic sync

Connect an account through open banking and guito fetches your transactions directly from the bank, then keeps them up to date with no action from you. For the connection step by step, see Connect your bank. Once an account is connected:
  • Transactions sync automatically.
  • Each transaction arrives already named, categorized, and matched to a merchant. There is no “uncategorized” state in the interface.
  • Each account’s balance tracks what the bank records on your statement.
You don’t have to clean up after the bank. If the same transaction arrives more than once (banks sometimes mirror or re-send an operation as they add detail), guito keeps a single row and updates it in place. Genuine repeat purchases, such as two identical top-ups on the same day, stay as distinct transactions. Each transaction is dated by its booking date, the day the bank recorded it; a separate value date, when the bank sends one, is shown for reference only and never feeds into balances or totals. For how those dates drive your balances, see how balances work.

Manage connections

The Connections page gathers all your automatic connections in one place, with the status of each.
1

Open Connections

Go to Connections in the sidebar, under Accounts.
2

Check each connection's status

Each row shows the status of the connection. An active connection syncs normally; a connection that needs attention is flagged.
3

Act when needed

From here you can renew an expired connection or reconnect a connection that has an error.

Renew the authorization

By open-banking rules, the authorization you give guito to read your accounts expires every 90 days and needs to be renewed. When that happens, the account shows a red indicator.
1

Open the account with the expired connection

In the list, click the account showing the red icon.
2

Reconnect

Follow the instructions to reconnect. You go through your bank’s portal again to authorize access, just like the first connection.
Renewing the authorization does not erase your history. Transactions already synced remain, and automatic sync resumes as soon as the connection is renewed.
