This page shows how to record your cryptocurrencies (such as Bitcoin or Ethereum) so they appear in your investment portfolio, with cost basis, market value, and returns calculated automatically. You track them the same way you track stocks, ETFs, and certificates: record your buys and sells, and guito does the rest.
Cryptocurrencies are available to everyone, at no cost.

Add a cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrencies use the same search and add flow as your other investment holdings, with no separate screens.
1

Go to Investments

Open Investments in the sidebar.
2

Click Add

Use the Add button to start recording a new holding.
3

Search for the coin

Search for the coin (for example, Bitcoin or Ethereum) in the same search box where you look up stocks and certificates, then select it from the results.
4

Choose the pair you traded

When available, choose the pair you actually traded, for example BTC/USD or BTC/EUR.
5

Record the transaction

Indicate whether it was a buy or a sell and fill in the date, quantity, and unit price.
6

Confirm

Confirm to save. The holding now appears in your investment portfolio.

Currency pairs and exchange rates

Every coin always has a pair quoted in US dollars (USD) and, when one exists in the quote feed, a pair in euros (EUR) as well. Always choose the pair you actually traded.
Your cost basis and value reflect the currency you bought in:
  • A EUR pair is recorded in euros, with no conversion.
  • A USD pair is converted to euros at the daily exchange rate.

Where they appear in your portfolio

Cryptocurrencies show up in your investment portfolio alongside stocks and ETFs. You can isolate them with the dedicated Crypto filter, and they count toward the investments line of your net worth overview. Like any other holding, you can open the details to see market value, gains or losses, returns, and the full transaction history.
