guito brings your financial information together in one place: accounts, investments, credits, property and goals. It’s natural to want to know how that data is protected and what control you have over it. This page explains the principles: how your banking credentials are handled, why access is scoped to your own data, what control you have over what shows on screen, and what you can export or delete.
You don’t need to know any of this to use guito. It’s an explanation for anyone who wants to understand what sits behind the protection of their data.

Your banking credentials are handled securely

When you link a bank account to guito, the authorization happens over open banking. You authorize access directly in your bank’s portal, and guito only ever receives an authorization to read your data. The connection is used to view transactions and balances, never to move money.
The authorization is granted at your bank and can be revoked at any time. Learn more in Bank sync.

Access scoped to your own data

Your information is tied to your account. The data you see in guito, your accounts, investments, transactions, goals, credits and property, is yours alone. There is no way to reach anyone else’s data, and no way for anyone else to reach yours.

Control over what shows on screen

Protecting your data isn’t only about who reaches it over the network: it also matters who sees it over your shoulder. That’s why guito includes a privacy mode that replaces every monetary value with ”***”, handy when you check your finances in a public place. It toggles on and off with a single click on the eye icon at the top of the page, and it never touches any of your data. The step-by-step is in Privacy mode.

Taking your data with you

Your data is yours, and part of that control is being able to leave with it. Right now, guito does not yet let you export your financial data (transactions, positions, credits, assets) as CSV, Excel or PDF, though that export is on the roadmap. For now there are two practical routes: subscription invoices are available as PDFs from Settings -> Plan, and bank transactions can be downloaded directly from your bank’s portal, which most Portuguese banks provide as CSV or PDF. For one-off lookups, you can also ask the AI assistant for specific numbers about your data, such as balances, positions, spending by category or gains.
File import already exists (broker CSVs in Investments, bank CSVs in Transactions). See Import and export.

Deleting your account and data (GDPR)

Control over your data includes the right to erase it. You can delete your account and all associated data from your preferences, in the Danger zone section of the Profile tab. Deletion isn’t instant: there is a 7-day grace period during which you can cancel it, and only after that window is the data erased permanently. That margin guards against accidental loss and respects your right to change your mind.
The step-by-step for deleting your account is in your data.
